  • Do I qualify for PHR?

Hi Everyone.  I am thinking of studying for and taking the PHR exam but am not sure I qualify to take the test.  I know you are required to have 2 years exempt HR experience and I am not sure how they verify this.  In my previous job (I am currently unemployed) I was an exempt manager for three years and a large part of my job consisted of HR duties which included:  New hire orientation, training, recruiting, terminations, performance management, conflict resolution between employees, drug tests/background checks for new hires, etc.  So I have experience in human resources but my title was Assistant Manager.  Will I be able to take this test to get my PHR?  I really want to get this becaue the job market is terrible in Arizona right now and I think it will help me to have.  Thank you for any/all advice.

Check out the 2009 certification handbook at www.hrci.org.  Your HR duties must have been at least 51% of the job and can be verfied by filling out the form (in the handbook, appendix d) and attaching the official job description.
