  • Do we have to contact EPA?

We broke some light bulbs in the office area of our plant. We thought they might contain mercury and we cleaned them up properly. Do we have to do anything else? Contact EPA?

    Thanks for the help,

    Sal

    Sal,

40 CFR 302.4 lists the reportable quantity for mercury as 1 pound (454 grams). Since most bulbs contain 5 - 20 mg, unless you broke a lot of them there is no requirement to report.
