  • Recordable ???????????

We sent an employee to the doctor for eye care. The Doc said "no big beal" "you can go back to work" - Employee "but things still look cloudy to me" Doc "here are some drops that may help"

No prescription was issued. Taking the drops was volentary. The drops were a sample. The sample was stronger then over the counter meds. Is this recordable? Ken Bee

As you describe it, NO.  The voluntary part does not matter, the doctor gave them the drops anyway.  As long as there is no lost time, after the day of the injury, no restricted duty you are ok.  As long as the doctor gave the prescription medication at the office and did not give the employee any extra for home or a prescription, then not recordable.

Remember to investigate what got in the eye, how it got in there and what to do so it does not happen again.

    Good Luck

    Ken,

I think I agree with DDisafe but for a different reason. It does not appear that medical treatment beyond first aid occurred. See 1904.7(b)(5)

    No.  I wouldn't record it.
