  • Safety Plan vs. Safety Manual

I'm fairly new to safety and still learning.  I'm wondering how a person goes from a safety plan to a safety manual.  I need to write a safety manual from scratch.  I have been working on the safety plan but it is significantly more detailed than I would want the manual to be.  From what I've been able to research, it doesn't appear that there is an OSHA requirement to have an actual manual but at the same time it makes sense to have what you're training your employees on in writing.  Does anyone have a suggestion?

I work in the Plastics manufacturing and processing, Paper manufacturing and Processing, Chemical, Mining (open pit), Printing & Converting, Food Processing, and Wire & Cable manufacturing industries.

Is there a generic manual for heavy manufacturing in general?

    Thank You in Advance

New to the forum.  Just ran across your comment.  If you are still in this position I would like to receive a copy of your safety manual for reveiw.  I am trying to develope a manual from scratch and have investigated a lot of web sites but have not been able to find a good "sample" safety manual. My fax number is 864-949-5875.

    Thanks
