Hi. just a little tidbit concering forklift and certifications. The only one who 'really' certifies any John/Jane Doe to operate a forklift at that particular facility is the Employer. Classes taken elsewhere are good, but they do not take the place of the Employer certifying that John/Jane Doe is certified to operate said forklift at that facility. And one more thing, all forklifts are not the same, so said employer must be trained in all of the different forklifts on site. Personally, I think this is a good thing as location conditions vary as well as type, model, make etc. of different forklifts.

I would have to agree with your reply Dave. The agency would not want to go down that road, and competency is not necessarily limited by physical handicaps.

To be most effective, all forklift/forktruck certification training should be performed onsite using the exact rolling stock that is being used at a particular facility. "Train as you Operate". Initially, you can bring in a reputable outside agency who have very good credentials to train management to safely operate their own rolling stock or to "Train the Trainer". They will provide you with timelines for reviewing your forklift certifications/retraining/refresher courses. After performing an analysis of your rolling stock, the agency will put together a training outline for you to do your subordinate training.  Have them copy the training outline on disk so you can edit the program later when you purchase different lifts, etc. I have done this with our facility, It works very well and you are covered. Do a Google for "Onsite forklift training, your city, your state" or something relavent to that to find an agency in your area. Hope this helps.

    Joey,

Did you recieve a copy of the card?  If so, could you sent me a copy?  I don't know who you got it from so I am going thru you.  I have an audit Monday and we are out of luck on this.  If anyone else reads this and has something to send me that would be great.  I'm kind of in a spot.

    peter@hydroster.net

    Thanks,

    Peter

    Hi Nicole,

Could you please send me a copy of the forklift certification card to my email at dbell@imch.com. This is such a great idea. We never have enough cards. Our current program does not sell the cards alone, you have to buy the whole book just to get the card. We have plenty of books.

    Thanks, Dawn
