Scenario: An employee is given a prescription, and is not allowed to operate heavy machinery due to side effects. According to HIPPA this employee does not have to inform us of the side effects of the meds he is taking. Is there any other regulatory entity that mandates this employee gives side effect information to administration for the sake of safety?

Dear Chris,
I can't think of one. However, make the employee realize that it is his life and the life of the other employees are on the line.
While you cannot make him tell you, I would assign a competent employee to observe him.
