I have recently been directed to remove all medicines (to include lotions and ointments) from our on-site first aid kits. The reason stated was that we were potentially violating the law by "Dispensing" medication. We do not have an on-site clinic or nurse.
I feel pretty strongly that we should be providing protective lotions (barrier cream) to a segment of our employees, and that they should not have to pay out of pocket for that.
My facility is located in California, so I have to deal with Cal/OSHA. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
