I am considering a practice OSHA inspections at our facilities . I am putting together a check list for the most common items OSHA looks at. I am aware that the most common items an inspectors might look for are: Training records , IIPP and its associated programs; Hazardous Communication Program, BBP Accident Investigation, Ergonomics etc... and of course if they are out for a complaint, they'll investigated that as well. Are there any other items you think I should consider checking out. We are

I work for a company that is an adult day school for people with disabilities . At three of our program we have designated ceramics rooms along with a sperate room for the kiln. Since I am not familiar with the above process: 1. I was wondering if there are any regulations I should be aware of. 2. What kind of dust the employee may be exposed to and do they need to wear any type of respirators? 3. Are there any known hazardous chemicals used during the glazing processes etc.? 4. Should I consider

Thanks for the responses by all. Update: I have been working with our local electrical utility company and since we were a non profit organization, we have qualified for a couple of grants. Those fixtures that I had mention as a safety concern are going to be replaced along with the rest of our facilities lighting with new energy efficient fixtures that are properly covered.

Thanks Mike for your input. I was thinking the same thing about the general duty industry duty clause. I also am looking at replaceing the lights as opposed to trying to find covers as I am sure most of these light are the older T-2 high energy lights. Once again thanks for your help

Is there any regulation that requires light covers in the work place. My organization is an adult daycare program (school), and in a couple of our old buildings we have florescent lights (shop lights) in the classrooms without covers. Employees have written in their safety inspection that this is a potential safety hazard. I agree with them but i need some time of regulation /requirement to take to management. I would appreciate any help.

Hi Dave, I greatly appreciate your response. This is for real. Upper management never took action or made any policy. I spent the day yesterday talking with CAL-OSHA, Health Departments, etc and it basiclly boils down to a company policy according to those officials. I totally spaced about the General Duty Act. Our attorney was looking for some type of info and yes I agree that the General Duty Act is a streatch but it may give the attorney something to work with. Thanks so much for your advice.
