  • Re: Accident Investigation Forum

I found that the Chesapeake Region Safety Council has been very helpful in providing many resources in accident investigation and prevention programs. Since the Western Pa. Safety Council folded several years ago, I found this chapter and they have been superb in their offerings. Their web page is: http://www.chesapeakesc.org/ Ask for Connie Schultheis, Vice President, and she can help you find what you need to enhance your program.

  • Re: Safety Incentive Programs

We have found that having a reward for a section/department in the form of a catered meal/lunch seems to work very well. This allows everyone to share in the good safety effort. Like any program, a safety incentive program needs a lot of attention to assusre that no one has "swept under the carpet" any "minor" issues or near-miss.

  • Re: Fire Extinguishers

We usually use an ABC type of fire extinguisher as it is the best in most types of fires. In areas that require specialized fire extinguishment, I would suggest contacting a local fire company to assist in identifying hazards at your workplace where they could suggest different types of extinguishment for the application found. I hope this assists you.
